In this article the author exclaims "The chief benefits of global warming include: fewer winter deaths; lower energy costs; better agricultural yields; probably fewer droughts; maybe richer biodiversity" most people seem to feel that global warming only does bad thing to the Earth. Global warming would increase wealth and enable us to adapt to climate change in the future by giving us more benefits , which would save us money. In my opinion we should care that climate change has caused a great amount of change in our economic output. I feel this way because the economy being low means less money, and more struggle for us to deal with. Fewer job opportunities, this could cause people to become "poor" or low class. I don't really think we could actually compare the cost and benefits of global warming without actually trying the methods. Some polices we could make, would be no littering, and using different economical heating/cooling systems, also cutting back on the air pollution.

Letter To Myself : Extra Credit
Mission Statement:
Dear Alexus,
I don't like the fact most of the time you try to stay hidden. But you live your life as if you’re forever free. Not being ashamed of the person you really are. Looking in the mirror and asking do I really know you? I know its tough dealing with the stress; but you got so much going for you right now. Keep pushing through to the success. Just like BeyoncĂ© said "I want to leave my footprints on the sand of time", just to let someone know I was here. Alexus you live each day like it’s your last, remembering life's too short to wake up with regrets. Keep in mind and don’t forget, you have a purpose on this world and you've made a difference in someone’s life. Don’t give up, this is just the beginning.
Yours Truly, Alexus Nacole Moore

I believe people do have a choice to stop eating Oreo's once they started, I mean yeah there delicious but if you make yourself stop you can! Not everyone really considers health to gratification, probably cause as teens or kids most of us have a high metabolism and we don't really gain weight that much. Also , I think even if people are more healthy than others, they usually treat themselves to a sweet unhealthy treat for their progress. I think the difference from saying Oreo's are someones "Pleasure" and saying someone is "Addicted" to them is huge. In my point of view I don't think someone could actually be addicted to them. It just they are way more preferable, since they contain sugar! Rats show that they just felt ordinary pleasure from the cookie/ creamy filling. The article explained " Other rats were put in the same maze but given an injection of cocaine or morphine or saline when they reached the end" (6par), For instance, Oreo cookies dosen't have the same drug like ingredients them as the drugs did. However, they just triggered the brain as something enjoyable. In conclusion, even Oreo's may be addictive, but I don't agree they should be addictive as drugs.

In my opinion, having to take on a fecal transplant would be disgusting! However, if it involved saving my life I might just have to suck it up and go for it. In the article it describes the pills as “It is packed into triple-coated gel capsules so they won't dissolve until they reach the intestines” (par6), This would probably make the consumer feel better about the pill because its packaged into a gel capsule. If I would have to take the transplant I would prefer using the throat tube procedure. I believe the pill was designed so that it won't dissolve till it reaches the stomach because, the smell, and the extra bacteria. Some possible future advances could be “with out-of-whack gut bacteria, such as hospitalized patients vulnerable to antibiotic-resistant germs” (laspar). This should make the process seem way more, sterilized and less disgusting.

In my opinion I don't suffer from FOMO. I mean yes, i get on social networks. But I dont fear of missing out honestly, it took me forever to even figure out what “Twitter” was about. I also, have a limit on texting because I don't like the way it makes my eyes feel .The way facebook hurts my friendships is like instead of having face-to-face conversations I just inbox someone. Sometimes, things you post as your status can get taking out of conflicts by your friends and start drama. However, I don't really use facebook that often I use twitter more often. The Author explains “According to research by the late Bernice Neugarten of the University of Chicago, who helped launch the academic study of human development, people choose most of their adult relationships, both friends and lovers, between the ages of 22 and 28” (par3,sen2). With this being said by the time were old enough instead of saying “I met my significant other at church, or the library” where going to be saying “I met my significant other on Facebook, or Twitter”. Human development is changing variously overtime and were getting more and more into the habit of using technology to communicate with others around us. I feel like we should cut technology a slack and get out there in face-to face communication again. Something else I agree on is when the Author said “The real thing young people should fear is missing out on those few, true, long-term friendships that make for a richer, happier life”(par15sen3). I highly agree with this statement because it describes exactly what we should be worried about instead of the technology communication issue.

“People who work early in the morning or late at night- or lack sleep in general- Have higher rates of diabetes, stroke, and high blood pressure” (par5lne2/3). This quote really stuck out to me because I honestly never knew sleep had anything to do with those health issues. I thought diabetes was just an eating issue. The impact this article will have on my sleeping habits the most would be not to stay up all night then have to wake up early in the morning for school. Also, I believe all the test they performed where accurate, since they used more than just one person. In my opinion I’ve never knew that being sleep deprived was that harmful to your body cause usually is you don’t get no sleep you would either be really hyper or really cranky I never really thought how it was effecting the inside of my body. Lack of sleep could also change the RNA in you body this would change the rhythmic pattern of the way they turned on and turned off. In this article i found out that sleep is an very important thing to stay healthy. “According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 30% of civilian adults in the U.S. say they get six or fewer hours of sleep. That suggests that millions of people might be sustaining damage to their bodies.” (par16lne1/2), this was another quote that stood out to me cause some people barely ever get at least five hours of sleep a night when the healthiest amount is eight. Since younger teens don't know much about this problem I believe its very important that we stress this upon them and save them from the consequences later. In the title the author tals about how lack of sleep could cause “Genetic Consequences” , genetic disorders is an abnormal DNA what if this could be hereditary to your kids ?

-I disagree, I don't feel that the use of e-cigs will lead to the addictive use of regular cigarettes. The reason I feel this way is because they don't have nicotine in them. I think that the FDA should regulate e-cigs the same as regular cigarettes because even though they aren't real it still has the concept of smoking and maybe if someone continuously smokes them they will start wanting something more stronger. “"These products are not approved by the FDA as smoking cessation devices," said society spokesman Gary Ewart”(13para) with this being said even though the e-cigs are really cigarettes they aren't being approved as them. This could cause disruptions in schools, laws, restaurants, and jobs I think it could affect our laws because we now have a “No smoking rule” in restaurants and if someone claims its not really a cigarette and could get into a lot of legal trouble. If it remains that the FDA does not regulate e-cigs, I feel as if more and more kids will start smoking the e-cigs then transfer to the real ones .Since they still have a traceable amount of cancer causing compounds the e-cigs can be just as addictive and cause some serious health problems. Some kids believe that the whole electronic part will prevent them the nicotine issue but in studies thats shown not to be true.

The two passages I choose to analysis is : Blast Kills Four Children; Riots Follow
Two Youths Slain; State Reinforces Birmingham Police and Five Fires Reported. The differences between these two passages is that in the first passage I chose four children were killed for no reason, while in the second one one child was killed for not halting when the police caught him stoning cars. However, stoning cars did NOT deserve the death penalty. Has there been a significant change when it comes to equality in America in the last 50
years? Well I think there has been a huge change in society today with racial discrimination/ equality. With that being said, there may still be people out there who doesn't believe in equality and just kills innocent people. Usually when they kill that innocent person they make it look like a accident, with no charges being pressed against them. Some current events that came to mind reading this passage is the “Trayvon Martin” case. In the “Trayvon Martin” case Trayvon was shot and killed by an white/hispanic man because he was thought to be armed. and also the Kenneth Chamberlain case, the police shot him using racial slurs before entering his apartment from a false alarm sent by his medical bracelet. Chamberlain was mentally disturbed, and he still got shot because he felt threatened and had a knife.

Do you support the Glendale Unified School District’s move to monitor its students’ online activities?
Why? Why not?
• What are other things your school district could do to prevent student bullying or to prevent students from
harming themselves? Explain.
In my opinion I support the Glendale Unified School District’s move to monitor their students. I think to a certain extent as mentioned in the article about stuff that HAS to do with the school. Other then that I do feel like it would be an invade to privacy if they were just in the students business for nothing. Some other things they could do to prevent bullying would be create focus friday groups like we have here at Gaston Early College. I feel like thats a great way to get stuff across to other people if you have a concern or you are getting or seeing someone getting bullied. Or they could have a counseling session with every student throughout the year to talk to the counselor about their problems or if they are worried about someone around them having problems.Team Building activities could also help ! This way students and their peers could learn to communicate better and to resolve their problems by talking. Violence is nerve the key.

I believe that the SAT judges peoples writing abilities since its actually a test it show how “book smart” a person is. Based on this article I don't really feel prepared to take the SAT seeing the fact it helps alot with college it seems to be a major test in life. I also feel as if the writing part would be difficult for me to handle because writing isn't my best subject. I believe that my English classes will prepare me for that essay in the future. The Author exclaimed “This essay, which was added to the SAT in 2005, counts for approximately 30 percent of a test-taker’s score on the writing section, or nearly one-ninth of one’s total score”(1 par 1 sent). Some people think this isnt a lot, but the fight for the spot you want in the college you want gets harder and harder depending on the applicants that apply . I feel like remembering the past classes you take helps you in you future, and I feel as if we should focus a lot of our time on fast essay writing seeing the fact we only have 25-minutes to submit our draft. In the selection it says use quotations, and i think this is a great way to incorporate the knowledge from the passage into your essay to back it up or give examples. Vocabulary is a major factor in our essay writing for the SAT so building our vocabulary would also be a much needed lesson in preparing for the test. Being argumentative is a tip to take in consideration when writing your essay, the reviewer love an egaging response. Im going to start preparing for my SAT.
